12:30-14:00pm at the Alt-na-Craig Hotel, 131 Grampian Road, Aviemore

Chairperson: Karie Murphy UNISON

Speakers:

Michael Meacher MP  - Chair of LabOUR Commission

Elaine Smith MSP  - Member of LabOUR  Commission

Refreshments

Michael Meacher MP is Chair of the LabOUR Commission. The commission's aims are to:

  • reintroduce democracy in the Labour Party;
  • expand and strengthen its membership; and
  • unite government and party around progressive policies on behalf of working people

The LabOUR Commission is investigating the state of democracy and accountability within the Labour Party, to examine how far this may have contributed to the loss of 200,000 in party membership in recent years and the loss of 4 million votes at the last election, and to make recommendations for reform where appropriate in the light of this analysis.

The aims of the Commission are therefore very much in line with the aims of the ReVITALise network and we are pleased to be able to facilitate an input to the Commission's work at Scottish Labour Party conference.
